165 - Home Is Where The Heart Is

Going home to the island isn't complete without visiting the house where I really grew up.

Having been raised by my grandmother and uncle in my "forming" years, I would say I have been blessed to have been raised in such a place; somewhere quiet, with a large area to play and explore and most of all, near 3 places: the ocean, the mountain and the swamp. When you're a kid, those 3 places are definitely awesome. As an adult, it doesn't change. I am grateful for having been raised in such a place.

I can't say that the nannies I had enjoyed it as much as I did. I often escaped somewhere they have no inclination to follow. And because of my tenacity to wander, I had my cousins or my uncle looking after me.

I'm hoping my father decides to work on the house and the surrounding area already rather than the land he bought here in Cebu. I find places in the island hold more meaning for me and that I hope would still be there when I decide to take a break from the world or something.

45 - A Bug in a Diner

I love dining in places with interesting decor, of course with really really good food.

Aside from the opportunities to take photos, there's the sense of wonder and to look up things within the place while waiting for our orders to arrive.

I have to admit that the unused VW shell smack in the middle of the diner was nothing usual for me. Added the fact that it's a VW, I knew my dad would like the place.

Speaking of VW, I can't wait for this weekend's event. I definitely would have more photos on VWs.

The Lovebug Event

Never really thought I'd ever be the type of person who loves cars.I still do not find driving as an activity I would enjoy. Road trip, sure. Driving...and entirely different story.

However, since ,my sister and I graduated uni our father has discovered or has explored his passion for cars, specifically the Volkwagen. Mind you, this model has been the farthest thing from my mind when considering the possibility of me behind the wheel.

But our father's a great influence. And yes, we did end up having a "family activity" (that we barely have) of attending the VW carshow in Manila last December 5, 2010.

Aside from the cars, I ended up splurging on VW Ts.

I'm anticipating the new car this December.  No tall people on the back seat is the one thing I keep remembering when it comes to the car.

And among all the cars there, these two were the ones that caught my attention the most
