Here's another thing I have only tried out during Uni.
I mean, sure I see "puso" (Heart) when I was younger and in Tacloban City.
But I have only tried eating this packed rice concept during Uni.
I have to say that it was a novelty. My mother never let me try to eat rice via the wrapped sort, only ones cooked at home.
This is a very vivid reminder of a stage of my life that was more on exploration, discovery, friendship, strength, individuality and independence. A lot of lessons learned.
Now that I am working. I don't often have this. And I do prefer to cook rice at home than buying puso for dinner or lunch. Both for the fact that it's less costly as well as I like that I no longer burn water as Ian used to say. (Although I use a rice cooker)
(Yes Noks, I now know how to heat stuff HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
Peach Mango Pie is addiction.
I try to stay away from it, by not going to Jollibee which I am happy to say seems to be working. But whenever I do visit I get these little addictions to go.
This is making me hungrier.
The first time I ever had Ngohiong was during my third year in Uni. I remember a lot of of my friends like eating them.
Since I'm not really a fan of anything that's related to lumpia...and nhogiong looks like a large version of fried lumpia, I wasn't too keen in testing it out.
First taste ever was at the VOT office, the staff bought a large bag of Nhohiong and brought it to our basement office for a short break.
I remember Windstone telling me I ought to give it a try before I make a decision not to ever eat it. So I snatched the one in his hand and ate it.
Can't forget how speechless he was all of a sudden. LOL
I mean I don't normally just grab someone's food and specially one he was already trying to finish off. I don't even remember why I did it.
To make the long story short. Yes. I did like Ngohiong. I still do. And pretty choosy since the ones we had back at Uni was really really tasty.
I have to admit the one in the photo which is from Red Moon Cafe is definitely good.
And now I'm hungry....*sigh*
This would be one of those photos I take when I go on lunch break here at IT Park.
Often I get breakfast food. This is one of those days.
Maybe it's the egg that really draws me? HAHAHAHAHA probably.
Odd though. When I was younger I wasn't really prone to eating eggs. Not one of my favorites per se. It could be age that's a factor to consider.
Come to think of it, I definitely need to buy some groceries tomorrow. No eggs and the monsters need to be fed.
One of those days where I have to create my own opportunity to have a photo for the day.
I was too tired to go out, and I wasn't really on the mood to venture out of the room and preferred the company of my monster and my laptop.
So a bag of nips came in handy both for the project and the opportunity to just have a stress free day.
"You wanna see what happens in a bag of nips.
What goes on before they touch my lips
they make a rainbow (chocolate nips)
a choco rainbow (Chocolate nips)
And then they color all the flowers and they paint the trees
They’re sweet and delicious, look at all those bees
When I want fun, I get a bag of Nips and make a rainbow
(Nips, Nips)"
Doughnuts!!!!
Yes. Despite being very sweet I still have moments I actually want Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I just try to keep my cravings a month or two apart. Helps with diet and keeping my sugar level within my body and not over flowing from my veins to the pores of my skin. SCchurrry.
And of course it doesn't hurt that the darn things are so picturesque. So two birds with one stone.
Just another 30 minutes on the thread mill of course.
One of those days. Having breakfast food for lunch which is actually during dinner time.
It's something quite common for people working outside the 9-5 (6) shift.
And for people like me who do enjoy breakfast food, well, awesome opportunity.
I love my shift now. I get to have time to just stay in bed before I head off to work. Or take morning walks with Rebel then get to sleep after and still have time to get ready before heading to the office. Or if necessary, work on a few errands. And when the shift is over I get to sleep when it's still dark. Literally speaking, since I sleep around 3am.
My mother has this habit of bringing chocolates when she comes to visit me and my sister here in Cebu.
Don't ask me why. I mean i guess mothers would still see the little rascals their kids have been despite their kids being adults.
I am not against it. In a way I guess I understand where it's coming from. Added the fact that we're not with them as often as before when we were younger, and that we live an island away, I let her get away with still treating us like we're still 13 years old.
As much as I might have some issues with my mother, I let her get away with most things. Despite the nagging, I would often just tell her she's right to avoid any issues. It's not such a big deal, to be always right or to tell people you're right, specially with your own mother.
I am a fan of pasta.
I think I have tried all the pasta variety from Yellow Cab (and their pizza too)and a few from other establishments.
And I think it is one of the major reasons why it's one of the first things I learned how to cook / make. The main reason being able to feed the monsters I live with. SO in a way they were my Guinea pigs.
It is a well-known fact that I cannot cook.
As my friend Ian used to remind me, I over-cook water.
However, since living in the apartment, I have been experimenting. Just simple things I can cook. I started off with anything that falls under frying. LOL and then moved directly to pasta. Biased. I know.
Oddly colored aren't they?
Well the pink and brown doughnut toppings are not entirely that rare. But the green one? Martian. LOL
I can't say much anything about it. I wasn't brave enough to really try. I think my mother liked it though. And as slightly strange as my thoughts go whenever I see that shade of green (slimer, ninja turtle, witch potion...) it's oddly comforting. There is some "fun" in food today.
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate healthy food and I do tend to eat what's usually normal looking. However, there are days that a little flare wouldn't be unwelcome.
Having a convenience store nearby the office building is pretty neat.
My team mate Jen bought a bag of candies for one of her kids from one of the convenience stores near the office and I got to have this shot before we all headed home.
One of these days, I would really really find the time and means to get a pretty decent shot of an awesome candy store. For now I wait for that candy store to pop up in Cebu or...maybe I'd find it randomly somewhere I'd be outside of the island. Who knows.
Here's to the candy house concept of Hansel and Gretel...just not including the witch part.
Who doesn't love ice cream?
My father is an avid fan of ice cream despite having a slight allergic reaction to icy food.
With that in mind, it's only natural that my sister and I are inclined to love ice cream as well. The flavor however is debatable.
With all the flavors available out there and the different brand of ice cream to consider, I think I have fallen to Gellatissimo's Forrest Berries.
Sure. I love the chocolate flavors they have as well. But nothing beats Forrest Berries. I guess it could be attributed to the fact it's the only flavor I haven't tasted from other brands. Or it reminds me of Haws candy. You know, that candy we used to pretend was the host used during mass since we were too young to understand the meaning as well as participating in partaking the body of Christ. (Yes I too have normal imaginations sometimes.
The ice cream is a little expensive. So in a way I'm glad. It's one way to curb cravings in having it every day. LOL
I can't wait to get my next cup.
The great thing about being in a team, is being able to share not only problems which in a way lessens the burden for one person, but also sharing of lives.
In every opportunity we do try to share. Problems and even the ridiculous things we get into or have gone through in our lives or in our day.
Usually over lunch, snack breaks or impromptu snacks on our station and even during a lull in a work-mode atmosphere, where someone would suddenly say something strange, or as most cases are: "relatable". LOL
Another photo taken on the Thirsty stand at the I1 Building in IT Park.
It seems they have some sort of trend in having fruity decorations.
The last time was more on oranges while this one is a watermelon.
It's a very interesting way of attracting costumer. Rather visual and works well with someone like me who's a little trigger happy with the camera. LOL
(This is a photo of my sister with chocolate-coated Sunflower seeds in her hands.)
I believe that giving should be done with open hands. It's symbolic that when we give, we actually mean to give and not hold back or have any doubts on that decision. Furthermore, to give is not to count it as a future favor that someone would give you, like a counter measure that good deeds would be my score for going to heaven when I die.
As ridiculous as it may sound, there are still a lot of people who give with the intention that the person they are giving something to would give them something in return. It's an anti thesis of the definition of giving.
I'm sure that not a lot of people think like I do. I just hope there are some that do than the bleak possibility that there aren't...which come to think of it, sounds pretty arrogant of me. Gomen gomen.
But honestly speaking. I actually think before I give. I think whether the person really needs what I am to give, whether this would possibly make the other person dependent on other people providing him what he needs instead of actually working hard to achieve it on his own. I think whether I am giving because I want to or being pressured to provide (which is rare).
It sounds like I am over complicating everything. However, some things aren't that simple. Giving is a simple act it's complication is before the decision to give and the aftermath of it.
I used to eat YanYan when I was younger. On a whim, we bought a few while we were doing our groceries.
To my surprise, the YanYan biscuit sticks have words written on them already, where they didn't have them before; just plain biscuit sticks.
Had a blast eating and reading and taking photos.
As silly as it may sound, I had fun.
Some people might find it corny; having words on food. But I think, it's a very innovative means to let kids have fun and at the same time learn while eating them.
I am a big fan of Thirsty or any fruit drink shake stand. Both for the health reasons as well as taste. Don't get me wrong. I like soda like most people. I like the fizzle in my mouth.
I guess in this time and age; mine considering, I should lay off from soda and just stick to water or fruit juices or milk tea. (Notice I do not mention coffee. This is because it's a different ball game for me).
Since we usually eat out during lunch breaks and we get to try places all over IT Park, I often have my camera with me since I get to go to places with interesting things to take a photo of.
Despite not eating most of the food I take a photo of, they are still interesting subjects, specially the ones with the odd colors.
This is a...cake of some sort in a cafeteria on the 3rd floor of the I1 building in IT Park. I didn't really get one for dessert, just rather colorful and eye-catching. (or this is just an obvious manifestation of my secret kink with orange)
I think I've had all kinds of snacks since I've been working with the new company. Everyone's into eating snacks and lunches together. So in a way, I get to try all kinds of food I haven't tried before.
Glad to say that some were quite surprisingly good and I would no longer avoid eating...just because.
Last day of training was spent at the office where there were discussions on the raised issues we discovered during our stay at the Marriott as well as a training/discussion on assertiveness.
Added to the activities scheduled, we were provided with Valentine's Day goodies. We got ours post Valentine's Day since we were at the Marriott during the office's celebration.
SO this is my post heart's day note: Love isn't something you find. Love is something that finds you.
